The people that lead Carmel are:

Husband and wife team – Al and Rita (Reet) Evans

Al and Reet have a lifetime of gardening experience behind them, having run Green Pastures Nursery in Bergh Apton for over 30 years.  Now retired (in theory!) they spend their time looking after their grandchildren, working on Carmel, dancing and helping out at the garden centre which is now co-owned by their daughter, Michelle.

 Al and Rita’s daughter – Michelle Evans

Michelle started working in the Nursery from a very young age and took it over, with her partner, from Al and Reet in 2009.

Rachel Hyde-Smith

Rachel freely confesses that her knowledge of gardening is much lower than that of everyone else,  but she can build a website and have a dream (see The Vision!)  She has worked at Green Pastures on and off over the last 25 years.

Nancy Dyson

Nancy  is a professional gardener and garden designer.  She has known Al and Reet for over 30 years and used to work in their business.

Official Roles

Al, Rita, Michelle and Rachel are all trustees of Carmel.  An application has been made for registered charity status with the Charities Commission.
