Scorchio!
Oh the heat! The hottest temperature ever in England brought with it a mixed bag of things for Carmel. On the one hand, the extreme heat meant that the endless grass cutting could be paused. On the other hand, it was a huge work of watering just to keep plants alive, particularly those in pots or newly planted.
The sunflowers never reached their promised heights due to the lack of moisture but they flowered beautifully in the heat, although the weight of their heads meant that we suffered several stem breakages.
We were incredibly lucky (and worked extremely hard) not to lose a single plant.
